Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu’s nephew, Captain Yair Edou Netanyahu, was reportedly killed during a ground operation in the Gaza Strip. This news was reported by the media Sputnik based in Russia, quoted Anews And TurkiyeNewsPaperquoted Tuesday (7/11/2023).
In the report, it is claimed that Yair lost his life during the intense conflict with the Qassam Brigades in Gaza. Reports also stated that Netanyahu was reportedly shocked by the news but until now Tel-Aviv has not provided a response regarding Yair’s death.
This unverified report also states that Yair Edou Netanyahu was the leader of Israel’s penetration sniper unit in the war in Gaza. He is also known as a ‘dangerous sniper’.
Meanwhile in the latest update Al Jazeera, it was reported that as many as 10,185 Palestinians were killed in Israeli broadcasts. A total of 10,022 Gaza residents were killed while 163 people died in the West Bank.
The number of injured people in Gaza reached 25,408. Meanwhile, the number of injured in the West Bank reached 2,100. Israel itself recorded 1,405 people killed and 5,600 injured. The average casualty occurred during Hamas’ surprise attack on October 7.
Meanwhile, in a new update, Netanyahu admitted that his party was considering temporarily stopping the war. He said he was open to the option of a “small pause in fighting” in Gaza.
This is to facilitate the influx of aid including the release of hostages. But he continues to reject calls for a general ceasefire despite mounting international pressure.
He made this announcement Tuesday after besieging densely populated Gaza City, where the Hamas group is headquartered. The Israeli military itself claims to have captured the Hamas compound and is preparing to attack the fighters hiding in underground tunnels.
Netanyahu said a general ceasefire would hamper his country’s war efforts. However, he claims that stopping fighting for humanitarian reasons, an idea supported by the United States (US), will be considered based on the circumstances.
“Tactical pauses – an hour here, an hour there – we have experienced it before,” Netanyahu said in a media interview ABC Newsquoted Reuters.
“I think we will examine the circumstances to allow goods, humanitarian goods to come in, or our hostages, individual hostages, to leave,” he added.
“But I don’t think there will be a general ceasefire.”
Netanyahu also said that when the conflict is over “Israel will… assume overall security responsibility (in Gaza)”. This means that Israel will be the governing authority for the region.
