Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The minimum wage for West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province for 2024 will increase by 3.06% or IDR 72,660 to IDR 2,444,067. Where, for 2023, NTB’s UMP is set at IDR 2,371,407. The amount of this increase is far below the demands of workers who are asking for an increase in the 2024 UMP of 15%.
This is citing the results of the Wage Council Session to determine the proposal to determine the 2024 UMP in the NTB province Manpower and Transmigration Service (Disnakertrans) Office Hall, Monday (20/11/2023), which was released on the official website of the NTB Manpower and Transmigration Office, Monday (20/11/2023). ).
“The recommended amount of the NTB UMP for 2024 is IDR 2,444,067. With an increase of 3.06%,” reads one of the points from the results of the trial.
Head of the NTB provincial Manpower and Transmigration Office, I Gede Putu Aryadi, said that the session was attended by 13 of the 17 NTB Provincial Wage Councils consisting of government elements, academic elements, entrepreneurs (APINDO) and trade union elements.
The following are the results of the NTB provincial Wage Council Session which will become the Governor’s recommendation regarding the determination of the 2024 UMP:
1. The Governor is required to have a UMP for NTB in 2024 no later than 21 November 2023 based on Government Regulation (PP) No. 51/2023 concerning Amendments to PP No. 36/2021 concerning Wages.
2. The Governor determines the 2024 West Nusa Tenggara UMP in accordance with the Letter of the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia Number: B- M/243/HL.01.00/X1/2023 dated 15 November 2023 regarding Submission of Information on Procedures for Determining the 2024 Minimum Wage, as well as Condition Data Economy and Employment for Determining Minimum Wages in 2024.
3. The amount of the NTB UMP recommended by the NTB provincial Wage Council can be determined as the 2024 UMP using the formula as outlined in Article 26 PP No 51/2023 using a certain index (alpha) of 0.30.
4. So the recommended amount for the 2024 NTB UMP is IDR 2,444,067, with an increase of 3.06%, namely IDR 72,660 from the 2023 NTB UMP of IDR 2,371,407.
5. The NTB Provincial Wage Council from the Trade Union/Labour Union element conveyed their aspirations as follows:
a. Reject PP 51/2023 concerning wages because it is a derivative of the Job Creation Law.
b. Invite the Governor to determine the best 2024 UMP for the people and that the Workers’ Unions will follow suit.
6. The NTB provincial Wage Council from the entrepreneur element (APINDO) expressed its aspirations as follows:
a. Fully accept the 2024 NTB UMP calculation using PP 51/2023 with the amount as mentioned in point 3 because the increase in the 2024 NTB UMP is in line with economic growth and inflation.
b. That the 2024 NTB UMP is to accommodate/encourage investment growth.
7. The NTB provincial Wage Council from the Government element follows PP 51/2023 with amounts in accordance with inflation, economic growth and a certain index (alpha) of 0.3.
“This UMP applies to new workers with less than 1 year of work. For old workers, the wages are based on the wage scale,” said Aryadi.
