Angelina Jolie Says Israel Was Attacked by Terrorists, Netizens Angry Lifestyle – 7 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Actress from the United States (US), Angelina Jolie, received criticism from netizens after opening her voice regarding the conflict between the Palestinian Islamic Group, Hamas and Israel, Sunday (29/10/2023).

In a statement posted on her personal Instagram account (@angelinajolie), Angelina opened her sentence by calling Hamas the terrorists who carried out attacks in Israel. The 48 year old figure admitted that he was hurt and angry due to the “terror attack”.

“There have been so many deaths of innocent civilians. I also pray for the safety of every hostage and family in unimaginable pain over the murder of their loved ones,” said Angelina, Sunday (29/10/2023).

“Above all, children were killed and many children are now orphans,” Jolie continued.

Apart from expressing his condolences, the main actor in the film Maleficent emphasized that the events that occurred in Israel were acts of terror. However, he also blamed Israel’s actions in attacking settlements in Gaza, limiting access to food and water, and closing the borders.

“What happened in Israel was an act of terror,” said Angelina.

“However, deaths in the bombing of the civilian population in Gaza, no access to food or water, no possibility of evacuation, and not even having the basic human right to cross the border to seek refuge are indefensible,” he continued.

Furthermore, this Los Angeles-born filmmaker also highlights the fate of more than two million Palestinians in Gaza who have lived under Israeli siege for almost two decades. He revealed that the amount of aid entering Gaza was unable to meet the needs of Gaza’s people.

“The bombings create new and urgent humanitarian needs every day. Denial of aid, fuel and water is a collective punishment against a people,” wrote Angelina.

“Humanity demands an immediate ceasefire. The lives of Palestinians and Israelis, as well as the lives of all people around the world are equally valuable,” he added.

Angelina’s written statement was immediately flooded with criticism from netizens all over the world. Most of the comments highlighted Angelina’s diction which stated that the attack in Israel was a terrorist act.

“I understand that you support “humanity”, but say “terrorist attacks in Israel”? Then why don’t you add “genocide in Palestine” if justice is so important?” commented account owner @lumos_71.

“Thank you, but please don’t be afraid to call it what it is. The correct words are: APARTHEID OCCUPATION. GENOCIDE,” said the account @dressyourface.

“Terrorist attacks in Israel? Serious? And what about the Palestinian people who have suffered for 75 years due to the Israeli occupation which has cruelly controlled their land since 1948. Please educate yourself,” wrote the account @lougyyehia.

Apart from mentioning the choice of diction, quite a few netizens also felt confused by Angelina’s attitude in her statement.

“Why do all the celebrities have to start talking about Israel first? Is it just to be safe? Israel has killed more than seven thousand people, most of them children, why don’t you call them (Israel) terrorists?” asked @mariam_nadem.

“Your statement is so confusing. Are you trying to be neutral? As someone who claims to work closely with refugees, you should know history better. I as a fan feel disappointed by your statement which seems to be “playing it safe.” Even the word “genocide” is did not appear. #SavePalestine #FreePalestine #ISupportPalestine,” explained @julianijabar.
