War Heats Up, RI Anticipates Crude Oil Procurement News – 2 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) said that it has prepared several anticipatory steps in responding to the Palestinian and Israeli war, especially those that have the potential to impact the supply of crude oil in Indonesia.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dadan Kusdiana, said that apart from monitoring movements in crude oil prices due to the war, his party also continues to strive to ensure that domestic supply availability is safely controlled.

One of them is by looking for sources of crude oil supplies from several other countries. As is known, Indonesia’s largest crude oil supply currently comes from Saudi Arabia and Nigeria.

“That’s certain (in anticipation of looking for other supplies), we have always had that idea that our multi-suppliers will not depend on one country, they have existed from the start,” said Dadan when met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Monday (23/10/ 2023).

Previously, the Director General of Oil and Gas (Dirjen Migas) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tutuka Ariadji, said that it was feared that the continuing war between Palestine and Israel would affect global crude oil supplies. Especially if big countries such as the United States, Saudi Arabia and Iran are involved.

“The problem is logistics, logistics and insurance. If it’s a bit far there, if it’s disturbed there, it could go up. But it’s not really going up right now, but when the US comes in, it’ll just start to go up. For Iran “We have entered, Saudi has entered, yes it could have a big impact. But now we still don’t know where it will go,” said Tutuka at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Monday (16/10/2023).

For this reason, the government has also prepared several anticipatory steps to respond to the war, which is not yet known when it will end. So, it is hoped that it will not impact the national fuel supply. For example, by looking for sources of crude oil from producing countries.

“There are many others, but most of them are from Saudi and Nigeria. Yes, we will open it, yes, what we have is just, if there is a problem, we will take it from where and so on, but the energy supply must be met, energy priorities must be met and can be affordable by the community , affordability,” he said.
