During the meeting, Luhut discussed Indonesia’s great potential in utilizing Carbon Capture Storage in depleted reservoirs and saline aquiferwhich has a potential of up to 400 giga tons and can be used to reduce emissions in the oil and gas sector and other sectors.
Apart from that, Coordinating Minister Luhut also expressed his gratitude to the US for the release of Pertamina funds amounting to US$ 300 million or Rp. 4.7 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 15,693 per US$) which had been deposited in Venezuela.
“We previously experienced problems due to problems between America and Venezuela, which caused Pertamina’s funds to be held up for almost 3-4 years, and America has helped resolve this,” said Coordinating Minister Luhut in an official statement, quoted Monday (13/11/2023).
Luhut added that this assistance indicates good relations and strong trust between Indonesia and America, which paves the way for further cooperation in the future.
