Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – WhatsApp is not only a means of communication in text form, but also for sending images, videos, sounds and other media. It’s not surprising that the files on WhatsApp make your cellphone’s memory run out quickly.
For this reason, users need to clean these files. WhatsApp says low device storage capacity will prevent the application from functioning properly.
WhatsApp asks its users to ‘clean up’ or free up some storage. That way they can continue using the application without problems.
Here’s a solution so that your cellphone memory doesn’t run out quickly because of WhatsApp.
Turn off automatic downloads
When you first install WhatsApp, the default settings are set to download media automatically. This media can really fill up your phone’s storage space, especially if you’re in a large and active group.
So, the first precaution you should do is turn off automatic downloading. Here’s how on Android
1. Open WhatsApp and tap the three dots in the top right corner
2. Select Settings, select Storage and Data
3. Scroll down to the Auto download media section
4. Touch When using mobile data and WiFi, then turn off all media types.
Here’s how to do it for iPhone:
1. Open WhatsApp and tap Profile in the bottom right corner of the menu
2. Tap Storage and Data
3. Then scroll to the Auto Download Media section.
4. Tap each media type row and select Never.
