Plot Twist, Microsoft CEO Gives Leaks About ChatGPT Tech Boss – 9 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella issued a surprising statement about Sam Altman, the former CEO of OpenAI who was suddenly fired and then hijacked by Microsoft. Altman is said to have the opportunity to return to OpenAI.

OpenAI is the company behind the chat robot with artificial intelligence (AI) technology, ChatGPT. Altman at the end of last week was suddenly fired by the OpenAI board of commissioners for no apparent reason.

Just days after Altman was fired, Nadella announced that Altman and Greg Brockman, the former president of OpeanAI who also stepped down, were joining Microsoft.

But in an interview with CNBC International, Nadella stated that Altman still has the opportunity to return as CEO at OpenAI.

“Of course, we want Sam and Greg to have a fantastic home when they are no longer part of OpenAI,” he said.

The interviewer then asked Nadella about Altman’s potential return to OpenAI. He answered, “That is the choice of the board of commissioners, management and employees. [Microsoft] choosing to work with OpenAI, of course, depends on whether the people at OpenAI stay there or move to Microsoft. I’m open to both options.”

According to TechCrunch, Nadella’s statement is confirmation of the reporting The Verge, which stated that Altman’s move to Microsoft was not yet official.

Nadella also emphasized that Microsoft wants “there to be changes regarding governance” at OpenAI, including in terms of investor relations.

OpenAI is now overseen by members of the board of commissioners who represent its parent non-profit organization. Investors such as Microsoft, which has committed to investing US$ 10 billion in OpenAI, do not have seats on the board.
