Gibran’s appointment as vice presidential candidate immediately became a hot topic of conversation among netizens on social media. Gibran’s progress in the 2024 elections received a lot of support, but there were also quite a few who felt doubtful and disappointed.

Drone Emprit founder Ismail Fahmi released the latest report analyzing conversations on the internet regarding Gibran’s candidacy. Data drawn from October 21-23, 2023.

CNBC Indonesia has asked for permission to publish this data. As a result, the majority of discussions on social media regarding Gibran’s candidacy were colored by negative conversations, namely 41%.

Meanwhile, positive conversations regarding this topic were 39%, quoted in the Drone Emprit report, Saturday (28/10/2023).

“The escalation of discussions peaked after the Constitutional Court’s decision to ratify the regulations [soal batas usia minimum cawapres],” stated in the report.

In the midst of criticism of Gibran’s appointment as Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate, there is one figure who firmly supports the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair. He is the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

Coordinating Minister for Marves Luhut believes that doubts about the presidential and vice presidential candidates are normal. However, he hopes that differences of opinion can be conveyed with civility and away from insults and slander.

Luhut admitted that he was monitoring the hustle and bustle of the 2024 presidential election in Indonesia. However, he is currently undergoing treatment and recovery at a hospital in Singapore.

From a calm recovery room in Singapore, Luhut admitted that various commotions of information from Indonesia still cannot escape his ears, especially regarding the dynamics of the 2024 presidential election.

Initially, Luhut congratulated the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, who is now officially accompanying Ganjar Pranowo as a Candidate for Vice President (Cawapres) 2024. Apart from that, he also expressed his respect to Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) who were standing at the starting line for the election. .

However, the news that surprised him was the union of Prabowo Subianto with Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair. He saw that many welcomed this with optimism, but there were also those who saw it through the lens of doubt.

“But this is normal, it is a normal thing in a democratic country like Indonesia, every citizen expresses a different opinion. However, I hope that every difference of opinion can be conveyed with civility, far from insults and slanderous speech that is not based,” quoted from his personal Instagram page @luhut.pandjaitan.

Luhut said that throughout his decades of experience navigating the political waves of this country, he fully understands that every decision taken in the political arena is based on deep considerations. This also applies to Prabowo and Gibran’s decisions.

“When I saw the two of them declared as presidential and vice presidential candidates, the image that emerged in my mind was a symbiosis between wisdom and new energy that was perfectly integrated,” he said.

Luhut also assessed that Indonesia is not only rich in its natural resources, but also in the great potential of its generation. Therefore, synergy is needed between the wisdom of experience and the innovation of the younger generation.

“It is still recorded in my memory how Mr. Jokowi first entered the Indonesian political scene. He was underestimated by various parties when he ran as a contestant, but he emerged as a figure who is really taken into account,” he added.

According to Luhut, winning two presidential elections in Indonesia is not simple, especially since he still has an approval rate of more than 80% in the last year of his term.

This is proof of how much the people support the various programs carried out by the President and see Jokowi as an irreplaceable leader in Indonesia.

“So I see that the doubts that are currently emerging in the minds of many people regarding Pak Prabowo’s decision to choose Mas Gibran are understandable. However, we must always remember that every step taken by both of them, I believe, has sincere intentions to realize Indonesia’s vision Proceed.

Furthermore, Luhut said that in Indonesia’s history, unity and collaboration have been proven to be the keys to the nation’s progress. This is also what he sees in the Prabowo-Gibran pair as a symbol of hope for a developed Indonesia, a synergy between unity and acceleration in order to continue the sustainable development that is currently being prepared.

“I want to emphasize the importance of the spirit of reconciliation that has been exemplified by Pak Jokowi and Pak Prabowo. We certainly don’t want to see society divided again like in the last several elections,” he said.
