Jokowi Wants to Step Down, Here’s the ‘Prediction’ for the Fate of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road News – 6 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – It is believed that the government will continue with the Trans Sumatra Toll Road project even if President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) steps down next year. Basically, the benefits of this project have been felt by the wider community.

“In my opinion, because of the public interest, economic interests will of course be continued,” said Director General of Public Works and Housing Infrastructure Financing (PUPR) Herry Trisaputra Zuna after a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Monday (6/11/2023).

One of the perceived benefits of this project is travel time. Before there was Trans Sumatra, people needed to take a longer time. Meanwhile, now it has become faster.

“This is a project for needs and the benefits have already been felt. Before and after there was a toll road, it should have taken approximately 1 hour for a distance of 100 km, if it was 400 km it would have been 4 hours. If not (via the toll road), bringing food could rot,” he said. Harry.

According to plan, this project will continue in two stages. The first phase will last until 2024 and work is currently continuing to be accelerated.

“Trans Sumatra has started, which is good, of course it must be continued. In the Presidential Decree it is stated that until 2024 we will start until Jambi, we will continue the process from Betung to Jambi. After this we must continue with stage 2 and so on, yes. Stage 1 to Jambi,” said Herry.
