Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Research reveals that iPhone owners are more loyal than Android cellphones. iPhone owners tend to keep their devices longer due to factors such as build quality.
A report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) shows that people are using iPhones for longer periods of time, before finally upgrading.
The study entitled “iPhone Owners Keep Phones Longer than Android Owners” revealed that 61 percent of iPhone buyers had owned their previous iPhone for two years or more, compared to 43 percent of Android cellphone owners.
Additionally, 29 percent of iPhone owners lasted their devices for three years or more, while only 21 percent of Android owners said the same.
On the other hand, only 10 percent of iPhone owners have had their previous device for a year or less, compared to almost a quarter of Android cellphone owners, namely 21 percent.
In society, there is an opinion that iPhone owners are richer and more familiar with technology and style. In theory, this should make iPhone users more likely to upgrade sooner, but in reality this is not the case.
iPhone models are upgraded only once a year, leaving only once a year for consumers to buy a new device. On the other hand, the Android ecosystem, which has brands like Samsung, Google, and Motorola, offers many new releases every year.
This gives Android users more opportunities to consider upgrading, despite brand loyalty existing within the Android user community.
iPhone replacement cycles are slower due to the device’s durability and reliability, resulting in a satisfactory experience over a long period of time.
