International This Country Cuts Relations with Israel because of Gaza News – 2 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Bolivia officially cuts diplomatic relations with Israel. This is because of its military operations in Gaza.

This was said by one of President Luis Arce’s government ministers, María Nela Prada, Tuesday local time. Bolivia insists it demands an immediate ceasefire.

“We demand an end to the attacks on the Gaza Strip which have so far claimed thousands of civilian lives and caused the forced displacement of Palestinians,” he stressed in La Paz, quoted The GuardianWednesday (1/11/2023).

Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani also criticized Israel’s actions in the Palestinian enclave. Israel’s actions, he said, threatened international peace and security.

“Aggressive and disproportionate,” he was quoted as saying BBC International.

Former President Evo Morales also called for this step to sever diplomatic relations. He called on his country to sever ties with Israel because of the “dire situation facing the Palestinian people”.

Morales even demanded that Israel be classified as a “terrorist state”. Through social media

Bolivia was the first Latin American country to cut ties with Israel because of the conflict. They called for a ceasefire and said they would send aid to Gaza.

This country only restored relations with Israel in 2019. That was a decade after their relations were severed due to previous attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Chile and Colombia also reportedly recalled their ambassadors from Israel.

Chile’s president, Gabriel Boric, announced that he had summoned his country’s ambassador in Tel Aviv to discuss the “unacceptable violations of international humanitarian law” that he said Israel was committing in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, also compared Israel’s actions to those of Adolf Hitler’s Nazis. He said “the massacre of the Palestinian people is being carried out by Israel”.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva last week also criticized what he called “the madness of the Israeli PM who wants to destroy the Gaza Strip”. He said Netanyahu forgot that there were not only Hamas soldiers there but also women and children.

“Who is the big victim of this war,” he stressed.

“Just because Hamas carried out terrorist acts against Israel, doesn’t mean Israel has to kill millions of innocent people,” Lula added in another interview.
