The former winner of the WWE AOP tag team almost walked in the company for hours before debuting their main list.
Akam, 32, and Rezar, 31, made their names as pain writers in NXT with Veteran Manager Paul Ellering, but when they were called in April 2018, they were told that they had to leave their mentor.
‘It was the day we decided to stop with WWE,’ Rezar Exclusively tells Metro. ‘We were just called. And the first day on the first list, they told us, “You have to leave Paul Elleering.”
‘And my tag team partner and I am Akam, Sonny, he said, “Yo, let’s give our resignation letter and go away”. But Paul told us, “Try it. I have helped you to get there, so much hard work, we can always get back together later.” ‘
The wrestler, now used his original name Selmani when he returned to fighting sports and pursuing a career in boxing after calling the former strongest player Eddie Hall, claiming the shift of presentations was because of the strange approach of Vince McMahon at that time.
“He doesn’t like people who are older than him or his age at the event. He wants to be the only parent who will be in the spotlight at that time,” he said.
This duo did not walk out, but ‘it was not the same’ without Paul, because they immediately worked with Drake Maverick, who was more in the role of comedy.
‘Drake Maverick is a creative genius, friend. He knows the wrestling business inside and outside, ‘said the Gazim. ‘[But] We are never happy with the main list. We can’t do us, we feel like a piece of missing. ‘
There is even a tentative plan at one point to divide AOP, and the enzyme claims some people see it as their own stars.
‘Many people backstage [in creative] encourage to do that. But I made my name on the tag team. I didn’t go behind someone, ‘he said. “The conversation was there, but I was never really interested.”
The team was released in 2020 before returning in 2024, after more than a year on the sidelines waiting for the creative field.
“They have a lot of ideas, but the storyline makes no sense at that time – for them, because we are ready to do anything,” he reflects on, reflecting on the period before the final agreement was formed with Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux.
They insist to return too, but the region feels more must be done with the group, and their leaders in particular.
“Kross has all the talents in the world to become WWE champions and become WWE’s faces, and they don’t give it to him. This is very crazy,” he said.
He claimed that Triple H’s creative head was very excited at first ‘, but’ made many promises’ that did not produce results.
But he insisted he ‘nothing was bad to say about Hunter’, and the boss was ‘always respectful’ towards AOP.
This team was released again in February this year, and the enzyme returned to the roots of the battle after entering combat as a ‘child’.
He started Judo at the age of four years, and became a national champion in the Netherlands in brackets under 12 and under 16, before moving to boxing and kickboxing.
MMA followed, and he signed a contract with a beller and main event of the Bamma card, before WWE came to call.
“I was questioned when I was 18 years old,” he said. ‘But I always keep practicing. I always stay sharp. ‘
During the early days of the pro wrestling, Veteran William Regal – who lurked himself in Dubai for trials – ‘teaching him business’, along with fellow Brit Robbie Brookside.
“Both of them really brought me under their wings,” he recalled with a smile.
Now it’s time to return to boxing, and the enzyme made a statement by calling Eddie Hall.
“I saw him entering the ring and called Dylan Dennis after his fight. And that didn’t make sense for me. Three men, four times, ‘he blabbering.
‘Opponents of someone who is not afraid, and that’s your size. And if you are a fearful and small person, then you go against a quarter of your size. ‘
The enzyme, managed by Shane Watson, went down to £ 292 after reaching 350 during his time with WWE, and he did not close the door back to wrestling, while he, Akam and Elleering were still talking ‘every day’.
“If I want to get into wrestling in six to 10 years, I will do it – however many years,” he said. ‘But right now, my focus is to fight and win as much as possible. Let’s do it. ‘
