Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Toyota still dominates car sales in the country. One of its best-selling products is the Toyota Innova. In September 2023, Innova sales will still be the largest. This was an achievement for three consecutive months from July 2023.
Last September, 6,489 Innovas were sold. In the previous month, the Toyota Innova was also the best-selling car in August 2023 with sales of 7,463 units and was able to beat the Avanza which was only in third place by selling 6,283 units.
In July 2023, Innova managed to sell 5,760 and also beat Avanza which at the same time was in fourth position by selling 4,758 units.
In second place was the Honda Brio which sold 5,739 units and the Daihatsu Sigra which sold 5,315 units. The new Avanza is in fourth position with sales of 3,975 units. Meanwhile, the Toyota Calya is in fifth position with sales of 3,544 units.
Innova sales have continued to rise since Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) released the Innova Zenix at the end of last year. This trend can be seen in at least the last five months, or since April 2023, this car has always been in the top three sales in Indonesia. The trend has continued over the last two months, where Innova managed to rank first in sales.
A different fate actually happened to the Avanza. Since January 2023, this car has never once sat as king or become the best-seller. This car, which is known as the car of a million people, is actually only in second or third place. Even in June 2023, Avanza will only be in fourth position by selling 4,293 units.

1. Toyota Innova: 6,486 units
2. Honda Brio: 5,739 units
3. Daihatsu Sigra: 5,315 units
4. Toyota Avanza: 3,975 units
5. Toyota Calya: 3,544 units
6. Daihatsu Gran Max PU: 3,431 units
7. Suzuki Carry: 3,333 units
8. Toyota Rush: 3,025 units
9. Mitsubishi Xpander: 2,757 units
10. Honda HR-V: 2,162 units
In the Premium Class, the Toyota Alphard is the Champion
According to Gikindo sales data, if you look at the best-selling Premium MPV segment, it is occupied by the Toyota Alphard, followed by the Kia Grand Carnival, and the Hyundai Staria.
Premium MPV cars also tend to be stable because many people with money are not affected by economic conditions.
“The upper or elite group is not bothered at all by financial problems. This can be seen from the sales trend of premium vehicles which tends to be stable,” said Automotive Observer Yannes Martinus Pasaribu to CNBC Indonesia, quoted Saturday (21/10/2023).
Alphard has become top of mind in the Premium MPV class. Although currently many other car manufacturers are also entering this segment, such as the Kia All New Grand Carnival.

– Toyota Alphard: 207 units
– KIA Grand Carnival: 18 units
– Hyundai Staria: 4 units
– Toyota Vellfire: 2 units.
