Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The DPR RI summoned the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah and his staff to attend a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission IX DPR RI, Tuesday (14/11/2023).

The agenda for today’s working meeting is to discuss the progress of the Ministry of Manpower’s policy achievements in fulfilling link and match, expanding job opportunities within the country, expanding the job market abroad, developing young talent, and developing digital employment.

Apart from that, today’s working meeting also discussed monitoring and evaluation of the One Channel Placement System (SPSK) program for placements in the Middle East and other regions. As well as, evaluation of the employment opportunity expansion program for the National Strategic Project (PSN) and employment expansion targets in investment in 2024.


In front of members of Commission IX of the DPR RI, Minister of Manpower Ida conveyed the challenges that exist in Indonesian employment, one of which is the gap between the supply and demand sides of the Indonesian labor market, namely that as many as 1.8 million high school graduates and equivalent each year are not accommodated in tertiary institutions, so that forced to enter the job market.

“The low level of digital skills is a challenge to meet the industry in the future,” said Ida in the Working Meeting.

Ida said, in the future the pattern of labor demand will be more jobs related to the use of digital technology or digital hard skills. Apart from that, soft skills such as analytical abilities, problem solving orientation, creativity and communication will also be needed.

However, he said, the digital skills possessed by Indonesian workers are still theoretical and general, resulting in a gap on the supply and demand sides.

“This can be seen from the open unemployment rate (TPT) from 2019 to August 2023. Thank God, our TPT is already close to what it was before the pandemic, already 5.32%,” he said.

Furthermore, in her presentation, Ida revealed the skills needed in the job market, including:

– Creative thinking needs 73.2%

– Analytical thinking needs 71.6%

– Technological literacy requirement is 67.70%

– Curiosity and lifelong learning needs 66.8%

– Resilience, flexibility and agility requirements are 65.8%

– Systems thinking needs 59.9%

– AI and big data demand is 59.5%

– Motivation and self awareness needs 58.9%

– Talent management requirement is 56.4%.
