The MoU was signed by the Head of the IKN Authority Bambang Susantono, Anindya Bakrie who is also a Stanford alumnus and Arun Majurnadar as Dean of the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability (SDSS).

“Several months ago, Stanford submitted an LoI in Jakarta and agreed to collaborate in the fields of research, research and training capacity building. Later, for more technical matters, follow-up meetings will be held,” said Bambang, quoting detikcom, Saturday (18/11/2023) .

This collaboration follows a statement of investment interest or LoI that Stanford submitted several months ago. It is planned that the construction of the research center will be carried out around January or February 2024.

OIKN itself provides 3 hectares of land in the IKN core area. Later, Stanford alumni in Indonesia will build the research center building, and Stanford will carry out research activities there.

The scope of research is related to water management, sustainable urban development, to robotics.

Apart from Stanford, there are also three universities from the Netherlands, namely Delft University, Erasmus University and Roterdam, which will build research centers. Apart from that, there are 6 domestic campirs who also want to build a research center.
