Sri Mulyani Meets Top World Bank Officials at APEC News – 58 minutes ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – During her busy schedule attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani made time to meet important officials from the World Bank. She is Anna Bjerde, World Bank’s Managing Director for Operations.

Sri Mulyani revealed that this meeting was not previously scheduled. However, the two decided to meet.

“Anna talked a lot about the challenges faced in the global situation which is currently increasingly complicated. She hopes that the World Bank can make more contributions, especially in overcoming climate change and encouraging the energy transition,” said Sri Mulyani on her Instagram @smindrawati, Thursday (16/ 11/2023).

To Anna, Sri Mulyani revealed her story about the challenges faced in creating a public-private-partnership to realize Indonesia’s energy transition.

“We agree, this is a challenge that is not easy,” said Sri Mulyani. Unfortunately, Sri Mulyani did not say whether there would be further cooperation from the World Bank regarding the energy transition.

The energy transition has become an important topic in APEC, one of which concerns its financing. Sri Mulyani once said that Indonesia needed funds of IDR 3,500 trillion or around US$ 246 billion to achieve the energy transition or target to reduce emissions in the energy sector in Indonesia.

Currently, Indonesia has international commitments, one of which is from the Climate Investment Fund (CIF) amounting to US$ 500 million and the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) amounting to US$ 20 billion. Of course this is not enough, an even greater commitment is needed in the future.
