Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD asked President Joko Widodo for his blessing to apply for leave during the registration of presidential and vice presidential candidates. This was done after he was appointed as Ganjar Pranowo’s companion as vice presidential candidate.
Coordinator of the President’s Special Staff, Ari Dwipayana, said that there were three letters submitted by Mahfud MD to President Jokowi, through the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno.
“This afternoon at around 16.00 WIB, Mr. Mahfud MD, through the Minister of State Secretary, delivered three letters to the President,” he told reporters, Wednesday (18/10/2023).
He explained that the first letter was a request for approval to register as vice presidential candidate as of October 18 2023. The second letter is a request for approval for 1 day’s leave on October 19 2023, in order to register as vice presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, the third letter concerns a letter of application to face Jokowi to provide a direct report to become vice presidential candidate as of October 18 2023.
“The Minister of State Secretary has reported these letters to the President, who is currently on a state visit abroad,” he said.
PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that the prospective pair, Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD, would register with the KPI tomorrow. Both departed from the Proclamation Monument.
“Tomorrow’s agenda is that we will depart from the Proclamation Monument,” said Hasto, quoting Detikcom.
