Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PDIP Presidential Candidate (Capres) Ganjar Pranowo officially collaborates with Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD as Vice Presidential Candidate (Cawapres) in the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election.
PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri announced the ‘marriage’ at an event at the PDIP DPP Office on Jalan Pangeran Diponegoro, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (18/10/2023) today.
“By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, the vice presidential candidate chosen by PDIP who will accompany Mr. Ganjar Pranowo is Mr. Professor Mahfud MD,” said Megawati.
Not long after the announcement, Ganjar immediately posted the first photo with Mahfud as a presidential and vice presidential candidate pair on his personal Instagram account.
“This is not about Ganjar, not about Mahfud, not about power. This is for Indonesia 🇮🇩,” said Ganjar.

According to Megawati, Mahfud is a familiar figure because the two of them have worked together at the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency. Megawati also praised Mahfud as a capable intellectual.
“I noticed that his knowledge in the legal field is very full of experience,” said Megawati.
Furthermore, Megawati said that Mahfud was a figure with complete experience in the legislative, executive and judicial domains. Then, he continued, Mahfud was also known as a legal warrior and defender of the little people.
In this announcement, high-ranking coalition party officials supporting Ganjar were also present, including Acting PPP Chairperson Muhammad Mardiono, Perindo Party Chairperson Hary Tanoesoedibjo, Hanura Party Chairperson Oesman Sapta Odang, and President Ganjar’s National Winning Team Chair Arsjad Rasjid.
