Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, stole attention again thanks to her elegant appearance. This time, Middleton was in the spotlight because she wore a rare tiara jewelry that was almost a century old when attending a state banquet at Buckingham Palace, England, Tuesday (21/11/2023) local time.
Launching from People, Middleton wore a floral Strathmore Rose tiara which was part of the collection of Elizabeth’s mother or the Queen Mother. It is said that the tiara has not been seen since the 1930s or around 93 years.
According to The Court Jeweller, the name Strathmore Rose was inspired by the Queen Mother’s father who was the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne. The tiara was her wedding gift to Prince Albert or Queen Elizabeth’s father.

After the Queen Mother died in 2022, the Strathmore Rose tiara was inherited by Queen Elizabeth II. However, the tiara was only kept in the royal vault for a few decades.
Thus, Middleton is the second person to wear the Strathmore Rose tiara in public after the Queen Mother.
“Kate has always signaled that she wants to emulate the Queen Mother’s royal role. Wearing her jewelry is an important symbol of that continuity,” said the founder of The Court Jeweller, Lauren Kiehna, quoted Wednesday (22/11/2023).
According to Kiehna, the tiara, which is an antique item, can be used in several ways, such as wearing it on the hair, forehead, or even disassembling it into a brooch.
“This tiara is equipped with two frames so it can be worn on the forehead or on top of the head. The Queen Mother used both methods and Middleton chose the traditional way of wearing it for her banquet,” said Kiehna.
Apart from wearing the Strathmore Rose tiara, Kate Middleton wore a long white dress designed by Jenny Packham, white gloves and gold earrings belonging to Queen Elizabeth.
For your information, the dinner that Middleton attended was a reception for the state visit of the President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, to England at Buckingham Palace.
At the banquet, Britain and South Korea discussed new trade deals and signed diplomatic agreements as part of Yoon Suk Yeol’s state visit.
BLACKPINK also attended the event as special guests. In fact, King Charles III praised Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa for their role as Global Ambassadors for the 2021 United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference or COP26 as well as advocates for the UN’s sustainable development goals.
