International Supports Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah Bombards Israel from Lebanon News – 18 minutes ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Exchanging gunfire escalated on the Lebanese border with Israel on Thursday (16/11/2023). Lebanese armed group Hezbollah said they had fired missiles at eight positions across the border and Israel said they responded with artillery.

In its statement, Iran-backed Hezbollah said it had attacked eight locations in Israel, including a group of Israeli soldiers, barracks and other military posts.

A Lebanese security source quoted by Reuters said Israeli bombardment, including drone strikes, hit at least a dozen villages along Lebanon’s southern border.

The Israeli military said in a statement that it had attacked a “cell” in Lebanon that was trying to launch anti-tank missiles towards Israel and fired artillery at other targets.

Lebanese security sources said this was one of the most violent days there since Hezbollah began exchanging fire with Israeli forces following the outbreak of the Hamas-Israel war on October 7.

Hezbollah’s statement said its attacks were “in support of the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip”.

The firefight marked the deadliest violence on the border since Israel and Hezbollah fought a month-long war in 2006.

More than 70 Hezbollah fighters and 10 civilians were killed in Lebanon, and 10 people including seven soldiers were killed in Israel. Thousands more people from both sides fled the attacks.
