Netizens commented negatively after Gibran stepped forward to become Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate
The founder of Drone Emprit, Ismail Fahmi, released a report analyzing conversations on the internet regarding Gibran’s candidacy. Data drawn from October 21-23, 2023.
As a result, the majority of discussions on social media regarding Gibran’s candidacy were colored by negative conversations, namely 41%. Meanwhile, positive conversations related to this topic were 39%,

Furthermore, the Drone Emprit report stated that the group supporting Ganjar or PDIP expressed more disappointment with Gibran’s candidacy than supporters of Anies and Cak Imin.
Many Ganjar/PDIP supporters label Gibran as a traitor, using the PDIP to pursue power. Then, the narrative that emerged was that PDIP was ‘thrown away’ by Jokowi and Gibran.
On the other hand, the narrative from Prabowo-Gibran supporters frames Jokowi’s position, which is reacting through Gibran’s candidacy. Because, Jokowi is often embarrassed by PDIP or General Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri who says Jokowi has no ‘power’ without PDIP.
Apart from that, netizens from the Drone Emprit analysis also made insinuations towards Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, and the Democrat party, regarding Gibran’s candidacy.
