FPL Gameweek 25 early Scout picks: Two triple-ups

Not as quickly as usual due to deadline disruption, we’ve put together the Scout Picks ‘bus teams’ for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Matchweek 25.

Upcoming Scout Troop nominations, pre-match press conferences and midweek EFL Cup action will help shape our final Scout Picks on Friday.

However, this initial draft at least gives an idea of ​​the players and teams that will be considered.

As usual, there are certain limitations to our squad:

• Budget £83.0m for our starting XI
• The overall squad cap is £100.0 million
• No more than three players per team

YOUTH’S POSSIBILITIES

After impressive clean sheets in the league and cup over the last few days, you can bet that we’ll have at least one Arsenal backline representative in our Scout Picks. Maybe even two.

Sunderland have been tough customers this season but away from home, they have scored six goals in 12 games. Only Wolverhampton Wanderers have a worse record.

Gabriel Magalhaes (£7.0m), with an average of more points per start (7.5) than any other FPL asset, is a good choice to feature. Jurrien Wood (£6.3m), the best defender for expected goal involvement (xGI), could also join him, although there’s always the boring old stuff. David Raya (£5.9m) as an alternative.

There will likely be one or three Chelsea options too. The Blues will face Wolves who are at the bottom of the standings, who have been showing their best performance recently. But in a week where Liverpool and Manchester City go head-to-head, and standout games become increasingly rare, no warning will stop Scouts targeting this match.

It’s more of a ‘who’ question, after the midweek effort at the Emirates. Can Cole Palmer (£10.4m) could possibly see Scout Picks after Liam Rosenior kept him in north London? And with Trevoh Chalobah (£5.7m) started the last two games (and Rosenior showed more willingness to rotate him, albeit in the Champions League), is Robert Sanchez (£4.9m) a safer route into the Blues backline?

LONGER SHOT

Newcastle United v Brentford is difficult to call. The Magpies tend to be better at home, while Brentford are erratic away from home.

But how big will Wednesday’s EFL Cup semi-final be to Newcastle? In addition, Eddie Howe often rotates as his team undergoes the busiest schedule of any Premier League team over the coming month. Igor Thiago (£7.1m) could even sneak in, if we imagine a second-half slump like the one we saw at Anfield.

Finally, Liverpool v Manchester City. Traditionally, this is a match where some FPL managers avoid selecting either side, anticipating some sort of ‘cancellation’. But neither team has been completely convincing defensively (one clean sheet in five each), so an in-form asset Antoine Semenyo (£7.8 million), Hugo Ekitike (£8.8 million) and Florian Wirtz (£8.3 million) may get more excitement than we believe. Considering its expenditure and form, Erling Haaland (£15.0m) may have to sit out this one.
