ChatGPT Creator Fired, Employees Receive Letter Full of Haru Tech – 1 hour ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – OpenAI’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) revealed the reasons for the dismissal of founder and CEO Sam Altman through an internal memo sent to employees.

In a memo seen by CNBC InternationalLightcap wrote that all parties were surprised by the board of directors’ decision to remove Altman from company management.

He also admitted that he had held many discussions with the board of directors to understand the roots of this decision, quoted from CNBC International, Monday (20/11/2023).

“We can say definitively that the board of directors’ decision was not made in response to misconduct or anything related to financial, business, safety or security/privacy practices,” Lightcap said in its memo.

Furthermore, he said there was a “broken communication” process between Altman and the board of directors. Nevertheless, he assured employees that the company’s position and future remained strong.

Lightcap also emphasized that Microsoft is still a full OpenAI partner, even though Altman is no longer the leader of the popular startup thanks to ChatGPT.

Currently, OpenAI’s CEO is Mira Murati, who previously served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Lightcap said the c-level fully supported Murati’s move.

“We will continue to discuss your concerns. We will also continue to work hard to find the best solution, and provide the latest information updates as best we can,” said Lightcap to employees.

“I know you’re all confused, sad, and perhaps scared. Our focus is on resolving this issue, asking for clarity, and continuing to work. Our responsibility now extends to our teams, partners, users, and customers. Stay tuned, we’re on your side you are all 1000%,” he concluded.
