Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Acting Head of the State Civil Service Agency, Haryomo Dwi Putranto, said that his agency applied several of the latest technologies in the selection of Candidates for State Civil Service (CASN) 2023). One of these technologies is a facial scanner or facial recognition.
“The use of the latest technology is face recognition, a facial detection system for exam participants,” said Haryomo in the 2023 CASN Selection Transparency Dissemination webinar, Monday (20/11/2023).
Haryomo said the use of facial recognition aims to prevent cheating in the Basic Ability Selection and Field Ability Selection tests. These two selections are the stages where participants work on computer-based exam questions.
Haryomo said the facial recognition system aims to ensure that participants taking the test are not jockeys. “The face detection system was introduced so that during the exam the participants who were registered in the system that had been built were taking the exam, not jockeys who could help other people to take part in the selection,” he said.
Haryomo hopes that the implementation of this system will not only prevent gambling in CASN selection. He hopes that greater implementation of the facial recognition system can also improve the quality of human resources for government employees. “The government has a strategy to improve human resources by utilizing the quality of selection through the use of technology,” he said.
As is known, the SKD test stages have been carried out on 16-19 November 2023. The announcement of the SKD results will be made on 20-22 November 2023. Participants are given time to dispute the selection results on 23-25 November 2023. BKN as the selection committee will decide to accept the objection whether or not on 23-27 November 2023.
Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Abdullah Azwar Anas emphasized that there would be no loopholes in cheating in the selection of candidates for the state civil service or CASN. He said the SKD CASN test would be displayed in real-time with a Computer Assisted Test (CAT).
“There can be no entrusted participants, jockeys or other types of cheating,” said Anas. “We urge participants to prepare themselves well. And we remind them that this selection is accountable, transparent, and closes the loopholes of brokers or other fraud,” continued Anas.
