Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Member of the Financial Audit Agency who was named a corruption suspect, Achsanul Qosasi, returned money worth US$ 2,021,000 or the equivalent of Rp. 31.4 billion to the Attorney General’s Office. The money is suspected to be related to the corruption case in the BTS 4G project at Kominfo.
“Today at around 5 pm the Attorney General’s investigative team has succeeded in seeking the return and handover of US$ 2,021,000 from brothers AQ and SDK,” said the Director of Investigations at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office, Kuntadi at his office, Jakarta, Thursday (16/11/2023).
The SDK referred to by Kuntadi is Sadikin Rusli, the suspect who is suspected of being the intermediary for money to Achsanul. Kuntadi said the money was received by the prosecutor’s office through the suspect’s lawyers.
“That money is thought to be part of the money they have received,” said Kuntadi.
Kuntadi said that from the results of the investigation his party could confirm that the money was given to Achsanul to condition the results of the BPK audit regarding the 4G BTS project at the Ministry of Communication and Information.
“So it can be concluded that handing over the money is not at all related to our efforts to condition the handling of cases,” he said.
Kuntadi said that currently his party is still investigating the flow of money to parties other than Achsanul and Sadikin. He said investigators were also still looking for the remaining money that Achsanul allegedly received. “Regarding the remaining money that has not been handed over, we are still trying to get it returned or handed over to us,” he said.
The Attorney General’s Office named Achsanul as a suspect in a criminal corruption case in the provision of 4G Base Transceiver Station infrastructure. He has been detained since October 3 2023. Achsanul is suspected of receiving a total of IDR 40 billion related to the BTS Kominfo corruption to condition the results of the audit carried out by the BPK.
