Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google and Microsoft are disbursing funds of 300 billion baht to US$ 8.46 billion in Thailand.
Thai government spokesman Chai Wacharonke said AWS, Google and Microsoft would invest 100 billion baht per company in Thailand.
The AWS investment is part of the Amazon subsidiary’s commitment to build a data center with a capital allocation of US$ 5 billion which will be distributed over the next 15 years.
“Prime Minister [Thailand] believes AWS investment will make this country more competitive,” he said.
Chai stated that Microsoft and Google are also studying the potential for building a giant data center in Thailand.
Microsoft, Google, and AWS also have data centers in Indonesia. AWS became the first company to announce a billion-dollar investment in the cloud sector, followed by Google and Microsoft.

Indonesia’s largest market
According to IDC data, Indonesia is the largest cloud market in Southeast Asia. Cloud spending in Indonesia could reach US$933 million or IDR 14.6 trillion in 2023.
“When compared to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand combined, it is still smaller than Indonesia,” said Director of Channels and Strategic Partnerships Google Cloud South East Asia, Megawaty Khie, some time ago.
