Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Far away at a point in outer space a ghost’s hand was found. However, this finding is not as scary as expected.
The image revealed is not the ghost that has been depicted so far. However, it is a collection of the remains of a destroyed giant star.
The remaining star is reportedly running out of nuclear fuel. NASA recorded the incident around 1,500 years ago and 16 thousand light years from Earth, quoted from CBS NewsFriday (3/11/2023).
After its destruction, the star turns into a dense neutron star. All stars have pulsars or strong fields to create intense conditions that cannot be replicated anywhere.
The appearance of the ghost hand used research results from the X-Ray Polarimetry Explorer Imaging Telescope. This telescope studied the nebula for 17 days.
As a result, the researchers were able to produce magnetic field maps. Includes images of human hand bones.
“The IXPE data give us the first map of the magnetic field at hand,” said Stanford University study leader Roger Romani.
“The charge of the particles that produce the X-rays moves along the magnetic field, determining the basic shape of the nebula, much like the bones of a human hand do,” he added.
The researchers also revealed that in the nebula there is a very high amount of polarization. So it is likely that the magnetic field is very straight and uniform with little turbulence throughout most of the nebula.
These results create an energy boost. The particles eventually flow into the shape of a hand in space.
