Firaxis’ 30th anniversary celebration includes not only a new XCOM project, but also a huge sale on its back catalogue.
While Xenonauts 2 and the upcoming Star Wars: Zero Company are still interesting games, we’re eager for Firaxis Games to return to the series with XCOM 3.
It’s been over a decade since XCOM 2 launched, which we rarely rate 10/10, and while there was a PC-only spin-off XCOM: Chimera Squad in 2020, it wasn’t a full sequel.
Since it’s Firaxis’ 30th anniversary on Friday, May 1st is now the best time to announce a new
Instead, Firaxis partnered with publisher Modiphius to release an XCOM-themed board game, based on 2012’s XCOM: Enemy Unknown and titled XCOM: The Miniatures Game.
No other details were shared, but Modiphius does have experience in adapting video games into tabletop games, with previous efforts like Fallout and Mass Effect.

Presumably, this will put more emphasis on minifigures than the last XCOM board game… XCOM: The Board Game. It was handled by Fantasy Flight Games and released in 2015, although it is out of print and is now only available secondhand.

If Firaxis has any new video game announcements planned, it won’t be as many as was hinted at today. Although this is promising news about the next update for Civilization 7.
This game only launched last year, so it might be too early for Firaxis to move on to their next project. However, they have been releasing new games regularly, so hopefully something will be announced in a year or so.
Starting April 30, Firaxis will also be holding a sale, featuring ‘huge savings on some of the best Firaxis titles over the years’, though only on Steam.
That said, this includes not only some of the older XCOM and Civilization games, but also the hugely underrated Marvel’s Midnight Suns, an XCOM-influenced strategy game that sadly failed and caused many of the developer’s top talents to leave.
‘Firaxis is more than just a studio, it is a passionate community of gamers. Whether you’ve been with us since the last century, or are just starting your first campaign this year, we are grateful for your time and passion,” reads a celebratory blog post on the Firaxis website.
“This achievement is not just ours, but all of yours. This is a 30-year strategy, and many more changes are happening at the same time.”

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
