Despite projecting lower console sales for next year, Nintendo is preparing around 20 million Switch 2 units by March 2027.
Nintendo’s latest financial results may show a lot of positives, especially in terms of sales of Pokémon titles, but they were clouded by the announcement of a price increase for the Switch 2.
As announced earlier this month, Nintendo will increase the price of the Switch 2 console in Japan, the US, Canada and Europe due to ‘changing market conditions’.
While we still don’t know the price revision in the UK, in Europe the price of the console will increase by €30 to €499.99 from September 1, 2026. In Japan, the higher price will come into effect from next week.
Due to this increase, and after a surge in launch periods, Nintendo said it expects to sell 16.5 million Switch 2 consoles in the next financial year, which runs to April 2027. This is down from the 19.86 million sold in the last fiscal year.
Despite the projected decline, it seems Nintendo is quietly confident it can sell even more.

According to Bloomberg, the company has asked suppliers to ‘assemble’ 20 million Switch 2 consoles by March 2027. This number is roughly 20% higher than the public sales estimates released earlier this month.
While the report states that these production volumes are not final, and could be revised depending on demand, it does show that Nintendo is confident that they can sell above initial projections despite the price increase.
Speaking to the publication, industry analyst Serkan Toto said: ‘For them, there is no real downside if the figure is low first and then exceeded later. The just completed fiscal year is a good example.’
The stealth production increase may also indicate confidence in its software lineup for the remainder of the year. Nintendo recently launched Yoshi And The Mysterious Book, but also has Star Fox, Rhythm Paradise Groove, Splatoon Raiders, The Duskbloods, and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave for the remainder of 2026.
Additionally, rumors suggest that Nintendo’s big Christmas game for the Switch 2 this year will be a remake of The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, which if true, would certainly be a significant seller of the system.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
