Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) delivered an official statement regarding KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri who was named a suspect by Polda Metro Jaya regarding alleged extortion of former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).
Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Committee, Alexander Marwata, said that the Corruption Eradication Commission respects the legal process at Polda Metro Jaya. “We, on behalf of the Corruption Eradication Commission, respect the legal process taking place at Polda Metro Jaya,” said Alex at his office in South Jakarta, Thursday (23/11/2023).
However, he said that in accordance with Article 32 paragraph 2 and paragraph 4 of Law No. 19 of 2019 concerning the Corruption Eradication Commission, in the event that the Corruption Eradication Commission leadership becomes a suspect in a crime, the Corruption Eradication Committee leadership is temporarily suspended from the position appointed by the president.
Alexander said that Corruption Eradication Commission Chairman Firli Bahuri still received legal assistance after becoming a suspect in extortion of former Minister of Agriculture SYL.
Previously, Polda Metro Jaya officially named KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri as a suspect in the alleged case of extortion by KPK leaders against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).
