Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Sandiaga Uno, said that his party would follow up on the case of canceling the Bring Me The Horizon (BMTH) concert on Saturday (11/11/2023). Sandi said that his party had summoned the BMTH concert promoter for questioning and to investigate the cause of the cancellation of the British rock band’s concert in Ancol Beach City.
“Yes, we have called the promoter because this is Ancol Beach City venues pilot for permits for organizing concerts and events based on line,” said Sandi di di Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Office, Jakarta, Monday (13/11/2023).
“What happened, whether the safety aspect was really taken into consideration, we are currently investigating this. We will ensure that whoever feels disadvantaged, the promoter is also responsible,” he continued.
According to Sandi, there are several things that cause the failure of a number of concerts in Indonesia, namely the professionalism and reputation of the promoter, weather aspects, and licensing aspects. Thus, the party plans to carry out certification for event organizers.
“Professionalism, reputation and reliability of event organizer is one thing to consider. Secondly, of course there are weather aspects, licensing aspects, and so on,” said Sandi.
“So this is what we are currently evaluating. We are calling on industry. It is also fitting that we are digitizing licensing so we see there is an opportunity to certify promoters, organizers and event organizer,” he continued.
Furthermore, Sandiaga said that the certification of event organizers aims to increase the confidence of the Indonesian people in domestic concerts as well as knowing the history of event organizers.
“We will look for ways to certify the people event organizer “This is so that the public will be better informed about who has good performance and we will publish this,” explained Sandi
“Hopefully this certification can be in line with funding licensing plans and digital-based activities or events. So that’s what we will do,” he continued.
For information, the BMTH ‘Transcend Thy Sels: Church of Genxsis’ Jakarta concert was planned to take place at Beach City International Stadium Ancol on 10-11 November 2023. However, the concert by Oli Sykes et al was completely stopped on Friday (10/11/2023).
Before it was discontinued, BMTH had performed 11 songs. However, at around 22.16 WIB, representatives of the promoter, Ravel Entertainment, came on stage and asked the audience to take a break.
After 30 minutes, it turned out that the concert would not continue. Ravel’s representatives returned to the stage and apologized. In his narrative, Ravel explained that there was a problem with the stage used by BMTH.
“We have a problem here stagesso we have to stop showstonight,” said Ravel.
After the events of the first day, Ravel decided to cancel the second day of the BMTH concert, Saturday (11/11/2023).
