Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Telkomsel’s startup investor has now changed its name to Telkomsel Ventures. Telkomsel Ventures is currently raising its second managed fund after disbursing around IDR 623 billion from its first fund.
Telkomsel Ventures CEO Mia Melinda said that identity renewal is one of Telkomsel Ventures’ efforts to remain relevant and adaptive, especially in supporting the growth of startups in Indonesia.
“This is to strengthen Telkomsel’s growth strategy,” he said at a press conference, in Jakarta, Thursday (23/11/2023).
The rebranding step was taken at the same time as the start of the second flagship fund raising. Previously, TMI completed its initial investment in the first flagship fund in 2020 with total committed funds of US$40 million (around Rp. 623 billion) which have been invested in 17 companies in Southeast Asia and North America.
These companies include Evermos, Halodoc, PrivyID, Sekolahmu, Edenfarm, and FinAccel, the parent company of Indonesian fintech startup Kredivo.
Mia said, TMI is looking for startups that are relevant and fit the Telkomsel ecosystem. “Focus on investment in various startup fields that are in line with Telkomsel’s strategic priorities, namely digital lifestyle, digital enablement and emerging technologies,” he explained.
Apart from making strategic investments, Telkomsel Ventures is also an essential partner for digital startup companies to achieve their goals through the use of various resources, technical support, mentorship.
“Telkomsel Ventures will help startups find the right partners, get the support they need, and develop innovative solutions.” he concluded.
