Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Prospective presidential candidate (capres) Prabowo Subianto will announce who the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) will accompany him in the 2024 presidential election contest on Monday (23/10/2023).

This was conveyed after Prabowo inaugurated the Brawijaya Level II RSAD in Surabaya, together with President Joko Widodo.

Prabowo also stated that the leaders of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) party would meet this afternoon to determine the candidate for vice president who would accompany him.

“This afternoon there will be a general chairman’s meeting of all the Advanced Indonesia Coalition parties. The final will be this afternoon. God willing, the declaration will be held in Jakarta tomorrow,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jokowi’s eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is said to be a strong candidate for vice presidential candidate alongside Prabowo.

Indications of Gibran becoming Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate strengthened after the Constitutional Court (MK) granted the lawsuit regarding the minimum age requirements for presidential candidates (capres) and vice presidential candidates (cawapres).

Now people under 40 years old can contest for RI 1 and RI 2, as long as they have served as regional head. This opened the door for Gibran to run as a candidate for Vice President.

Gibran’s candidacy was further strengthened after the Golkar Party officially nominated Jokowi’s eldest son as vice presidential candidate.

Gibran, who currently still serves as Mayor of Solo, is said to have visited a number of leaders of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) party which endorsed Prabowo as president.
