Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The use of Artificial Intelligence is not only for chatbots like ChatGPT and Bard. However, it has also been used widely, including in the e-commerce industry.
The General Chair of idEA, Bima Laga, explained that the use of AI has become increasingly significant. According to him, there are quite a few e-commerce companies that utilize this advanced technology.
One use is for chatbots. Apart from that, AI is also used for image recognition and predictive analysis.
“When shopping, carry out visual searches with virtual assistants, image recognition, voice analysis, predictions and supply chain automation,” explained Bima when met at the VI Digital Economic Forum (FEDK), Tuesday (31/10/2023).
According to him, the use of AI has been carried out by a number of domestic MSMEs. This technology has been proven to help operations become more efficient.
“In MSMEs we also actually use AI, for example photoshoots using AI. Then we also create multi-platform chats, so if we use AI it will certainly be more efficient, these are things that have been done,” he said.
The use of AI in the e-commerce industry is not something new. In China itself, several giants have implemented even more sophisticated AI technology.
They replace influencers or e-commerce employees with AI robots for live streaming. The robots increased sales by up to 400% compared to last November, according to JD.com.
Asked about this phenomenon, Bima said that in Indonesia it is still used for basic needs. But it doesn’t rule out the possibility of going there.
“In the future, we will go there with live streaming and other things. But now at this stage in e-commerce, we are still introducing AI for the basic industry,” said Bima.
