Most Viewed YouTube Videos in Tech History – 3 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – YouTube is one of the popular video streaming platforms. As one of the earliest online platforms, YouTube still stands strong with around 122 million daily users and more than 2.1 billion monthly users.

Quoting Dexerto, since its release in 2005, it is estimated that more than 1 billion videos have existed on YouTube. Of these billions of content, there are 20 most watched videos of all time.

However, there have been demographic changes in YouTube audiences over the years.

While commercial music videos once dominated YouTube’s most-watched video rankings, they now face stiff competition from unexpected sources, namely children’s songs and educational children’s videos.

According to data from Visual Capitalist, 9 of the 20 most watched YouTube videos today offer content aimed at children.

Launched in 2016 by Korean educational brand Pinkfong, the dance video “Baby Shark (do-do, do-do-do-do)” became the first music video to surpass 10 billion views in January 2021.

With a current total of 13 billion views, Baby Shark surpassed Luis Fonsi’s Despacito music video, which was previously YouTube’s most-watched video with nearly 5 billion views.

And other popular music videos focused on children also made the list, such as Johny Johny Yes Papa in third place and Cocomelon’s Bath Song in fourth.
