Minister of Agriculture Insists on Opening 10 SYL Era Machinery Contracts, Here’s the Reason News – 1 hour ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman has reopened 10 contracts for Agricultural Machinery Equipment (Alsintan) which had been stopped due to alleged corruption cases in the era of the previous Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).

Amran has asked that the contract for the procurement of Alsintan, which has no problems, be continued immediately, because farmers need it.

“I ask for it to continue. The important thing is that there are no problems, there are no problems with the contract, it doesn’t violate the rules, and if it complies with the procedure, just carry on, continue. Because the farmers need it, be careful, the farmers need us!” said Amran when met by journalists at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) office, Ragunan area, Jakarta, Monday (30/10/2023).

As for reopening the procurement contract, said Amran, there is no need to wait for KPK approval. If it is in accordance with the procedures, then the contract for the procurement of machinery that was stopped can be reopened.

“No (KPK permission is needed), we will discuss it later, as long as it complies with procedures, continue!” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Acting Secretary General who also serves as Director General of Horticulture at the Ministry of Agriculture, Prihasto Setyanto, said that the procurement contract which had been stopped would only be discussed and evaluated internally at the Ministry of Agriculture, without having to ask for KPK approval.

“With the Inspectorate General (Irjen), internal evaluation is first related to internal contracts. Everything is in the Inspector General’s evaluation process, if it is clear and clean it can still be continued,” added Prihasto.

He emphasized that the evaluation process was not carried out by the KPK. Because according to him, there were no cases of alleged corruption in the Alsintan procurement contract.

“There are no cases there, the contracts will be evaluated again, whether they are correct or not, if the Inspector General says they are correct, please continue like that,” he concluded.
