Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that it had escalated the handling of the case which dragged the name of the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (WamenkumHAM) Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej or Eddy Hiariej to the investigation stage. The Corruption Eradication Commission said it had named 4 suspects, including Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Eddy Hiareiej.
“Regarding the determination of the suspect as Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights, it is true that we signed it about 2 weeks ago,” said Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Committee, Alexander Marwata, in a press conference at his office, Jakarta, Thursday (9/11/2023).
Alex said the 4 suspects were the 3 people who were suspected of receiving the money. Meanwhile, another suspect is the alleged money giver. Alex did not explain further regarding the identities of the suspects.
“With 4 suspects, 3 people received it and 1 person gave it,” he said.
The case involving Eddy Hiariej began with a report by the Chairman of Indonesia Police Watch, Sugeng Teguh Santoso, to the Corruption Eradication Commission. Sugeng reported Eddy on charges of receiving Rp. 7 billion in gratification from businessman and owner of PT Citra Lampia Mandiri Helmut Hermawan.
This case also involved the names of two of Eddy Hiariej’s personal assistants who were said to be money intermediaries. The money was allegedly given in connection with a request for assistance in legalizing the legal entity PT CLM to the Directorate General of General Legal Administration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
