Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Instagram has a blocking feature to block an account on its platform. This is a feature that is normal for every social media.
When you are blocked by someone else’s account, you cannot see that account’s activity, and vice versa.
There are several characteristics that can be easily identified when our account is blocked by someone else. Here are the details.
Check profile
You can start by manually searching within the app for the account you think has blocked you. Tap the Search icon at the bottom of the screen. Then type the account name. If the account is locked and you can’t find it, you may have been banned.
When the account is public and when you visit the page you cannot see the profile picture, number of posts, number of followers and followers, and the photo grid area says “No Posts Yet”, you have been blocked.
You can also do this search in a browser. Type the link Instagram.com/username (Instagram username). If you see a page that says “Sorry, this page is not available,” it means the person has deleted their account or you’ve likely been blocked.
Check the comments column
Look at your posts to see if they’ve commented. If the person has commented on your posts, tap their username to go to their profile.
If this takes you to their profile but you can’t see any details, or if you see a page that says “Sorry, this page is not available,” you’ve likely been blocked.
Check DM
Just like comments, if you are blocked by someone else, Instagram will not delete any messages between you and him. In fact, you can still send new messages, even though they won’t be sent.
It’s also worth noting that if you can’t see your chat history with the person, it’s not necessarily a sign that you’re blocked. Previously, Instagram had experienced a bug that caused messages to be hidden. If you see this, there may be a similar software glitch affecting your chats.
Ask to check your account with another friend
One final method to try to see if you are blocked is to ask a friend to look for the person’s account to see if they can still see the account or not.
If they can’t either, you may not be blocked. For example, the person may have deleted or temporarily deactivated their account.
But if all of these still show you are blocked, chances are the person may not want to interact with you. So respect their privacy and don’t try to contact them or avoid being blocked.
