Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – China is starting to utilize the use of Artificial Intelligence or AI in live streaming events in a number of e-Commerce. AI robots replace humans to sell products in front of a screen.
AI is making China’s live streaming market even busier. MIT Technology Review reported that live streaming on one of the popular platforms in China, Taobao, was very busy even at 4 am with the presence of these virtual humans.
The report described the live broadcast presenter as looking like a robot when seen in person. Most of the lip movements are as stated but there are times when they look unnatural.
The offer of a replacement host has been around since 2022. A number of startups and large Chinese technology companies have offered to create deepfake avatars.
They only need a few minutes of sample video to create a clone. This robot streamer can work 24 hours a day and is priced at US$ 1,000 (Rp. 15.8 million).
The product owner’s job is also much easier to manage the robots. They just enter basic information such as the name and price of the product, correct the resulting script and watch the robots in action in front of the camera.
Even more advanced robots are highly communicative. MIT wrote that robots can read comments during live streaming. AI will answer in real time by finding suitable answers in its database.
AI streamers can also adjust marketing strategies according to the number of viewers. Even more sophisticated, they can be done using scripts and common cues that exist during the broadcast.
“For example [saat streamer berkata] ‘welcome to my live stream. Move your finger and press the follow button’, they will point their finger up to where the button is available,” said Virtual Live Streaming Business Director, Huang Wei.
