CNBC Insight The Story of the Richest Ex-Israeli PM, Palestinian Butcher-Died Suffering Entrepreneur – 15 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – This is the story of Ariel Sharon. He was the 11th Prime Minister of Israel (2001-2006) who grew up in the military world.

In total, he served for 26 years. He has directly commanded various battles against the Palestinian camp and neighboring countries.

Unfortunately, in old age his life is not as successful as when he was young and productive. In the remainder of his life, Ariel suffered a serious stroke and was in a coma for eight years.

He finally died tragically on January 11 2014. He was 85 years old at that time.

After David ben-Gurion proclaimed the state of Israel in 1948, Ariel Sharon enlisted in the military and received an important position as a war commander. At that time, Gurion already knew Sharon as a young supporter of Zionism.

Because, at the age of ten he had taken up arms to terrorize the Palestinian people. So, it was not without reason that Gurion entrusted Sharon as commander at a very young age.

Sharon’s first battle occurred in the Arab-Israeli War of 1948. In Warrior: The Autobiography of Ariel Sharon (2001), he played an important role in defending the City of Jerusalem. The enemy’s attack was successfully repulsed by his troops.

Despite being seriously injured, Sharon’s leadership was declared a success. Moreover, the Israeli military in that war succeeded in defeating the military of Arab countries which killed at least tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians.

Thanks to this success, the military career of this man who was born on February 26 1928 took off. Likewise his rank. During his military career, he was listed as a commander in various major battles. These include the Suez Crisis (1956), the Six Day War (1967), and the Yom Kippur War (1973).

Not only that, he was also involved in various attacks against Palestinians. Namely the Qibya Massacre (1953), the Sabra and Shatila Massacre (1982), Initifada II and the Palestine-Israel War (2000).

One thing that made Sharon’s name soar occurred in the Sabra and Shatila Massacre. At that time, the Israeli army led by Sharon was pursuing PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) faction troops who had moved to Lebanon.

When in Beirut, Lebanon, the Israeli military did not only target militants. They also attacked the refugee camps of innocent Palestinians and Lebanese.

Quote Al Jazeera, Israel and the Phalange militia it supports knowingly carry out brutal massacres of civilians. It was recorded that 2,000-3,500 civilians were killed.

They are mostly women, children and the elderly. Not only that, the military and militia also carried out cruel rape, mutilation and interrogation. One independent commission report even put the death toll from this incident at 20,000 people.

When this happened, the whole world was immediately in an uproar. Ariel Sharon as practical commander is the person most responsible and most blood-stained.

From here his name soared. This brutality earned Sharon the nickname ‘butcher’.

Powerful, Richest & Died horribly

Like retired soldiers throughout the world, Sharon was also involved in practical politics when he retired. Capitalizing on a portfolio of military successes, which he described as a form of state security, he successfully ascended to the reins of leadership.

In the 2001 elections, he was declared the winner and had the right to become Israel’s 11th PM. While in power, quote Al Jazeera, Sharon also carried out oppression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.

He wants to build a separation wall around the West Bank. The goal is to lock up the people there.

When he became ruler, another spotlight on Sharon was his wealth. Israeli news site Haaretz named him the richest Israeli PM of all time.

In total he has assets of US$ 11.3 million or Rp. xx T. This wealth was obtained from animal husbandry, agriculture and property ownership.

Unfortunately, his glory as the number one person in Israel immediately vanished after he suffered a stroke in 2005. The stroke forced him to go back and forth to the hospital and he was forced to leave his position to focus on taking care of his health.

Even so, efforts to treat the stroke in Sharon’s body never gave positive results. In fact, Sharon became increasingly helpless and far from healing. Until finally the doctor had to sentence the Butcher to a coma.

The coma meant that Sharon had to stay in bed, accompanied by supporting medical equipment. According to The Independent, While Sharon’s eyes were in a coma, they couldn’t close, meaning they kept opening. And this continued for 8 years.

From a medical perspective, he was declared alive and conscious. However, it was unclear whether he could see or hear anyone else. What is certain is that his only activities during the 8 years in bed were eating and drinking using a tube. Of course, everything happens with eyes that keep glaring.

Until finally, this activity ended when Sharon was officially declared dead on January 11 2004 at the age of 85 years.
