Selina Scott broadcasters have been left ‘destroyed and traumatized’ after being attacked by gangs in London last week.
Former ITV News at Ten Anchor, 74, has revealed how he fought back during a frightening robbery attempt in broad daylight.
Considering the incident, the original Marigold Hotel star said he left the Waterstones branch at the center of London when he was hit behind his knee, leaving his feelings as if he had been ‘stabbed’.
A few moments later, the gang tried to seize his designer backpack, which he held tightly, but one of the thieves opened his zipper and took off his wallet before escaping.
He lost a bank card, SIM, and cash in the robbery, which made him feel ‘ashamed’.
The other group then broke into him and he realized that he was ‘attacked from both parties at the same time’.
Writing by post on Sunday, Scott said the event was ‘very fast and practiced so that it was clearly a coordinated attack.’
He explained: ‘I am right with a busy bus stop, even though no one knows what is happening.
“It’s neat, brief and clearly engineered in the middle of the crowd. I still feel destroyed after what happened. I do not believe it happened to me. ‘
‘I see mentally and fit physically, but if they can attack me in such a brave way they can attack anyone. You feel not only trauma, but stupid because you somehow let it happen. ‘
The presenter, who had interviewed people like Raja Charles and Donald Trump during his career, shared his frustration over the lack of police presence in the capital.

‘I am also angry about the lack of police on our streets. No wonder the gangs that govern me have a sense of impunity – they can do whatever they want because they know that no one will stop them. ‘
A police spokesman who met said: ‘While we understood that the victim was frustrated because he could not see police officers on the road, a large number of officers patrol at the western end every day – not only in foot, but also in ordinary clothes and in vehicles to have the best chance to identify and arrest suspects.
“We will be happy to talk to the victim to better understand his concerns.”
Scott initially worked as a journalist in Dundee before making a TV debut on the Grempian Night News Program today and then, the North Tonight Regional event.
From there he became national as a news reader for ITN in 1982 at the peak of the Falklands War – with figures who saw it soaring as a result of his bulletin.
Star Scott rose further as one of the launch teams for BBC Breakfast, which began in January 1983.
He then made a name for himself across the pool, scoring his own chat program on US TV in the 90s before returning here to the front Sky breakfast.
