Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – There was an interesting moment when the Prince of Wales, William, visited Moss Side in Manchester, England to study a project to tackle youth violence with the Mayor of Manchester, Andy Burnham.

Launching from The Telegraph, an 11 year old boy, Amir Hassan, asked how much was in Prince William’s account. Responding to this question, Prince William admitted that he did not know how much money was in his account.

“How much money is in your bank account?” Hassan asked while sitting with Prince William, quoted on Tuesday (21/11/2023).

“Don’t know,” replied Prince William jokingly.

Apart from being asked about the contents of the account, the children from the Hideaway Youth Project also asked if Prince William wanted to take part in the art project. The art project in question involves children cutting their hair in a style that is considered to strengthen character.

“I should be the last person you ask. My hair is disappearing,” Prince William told the children, laughing.

During his visit to meet children and volunteers at the Hideaway Youth Project, Prince William also played billiards to pass the time.

For information, Prince William announced a scheme worth 100 thousand pounds sterling or around Rp. 1.93 billion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 19,342/pound sterling) funded by the Royal Foundation and the offices of Labor Party politicians to strengthen the performance of the Manchester Peace Together Alliance.

The funds amounting to IDR 1.93 billion will be used to create employment, skills and training programs for children at risk of violence. This is the first step for the alliance to prevent the underlying causes of violence against young people with targeted assistance and activities.

In this three-year project, for the first time the alliance will work with a committed private sector to provide job shadowing, internships and jobs for young people.

“The city is successful in many ways. The community is still strong. What we haven’t had is a pathway for people so they can see the opportunities out there and then get that support,” Burnham said.

“Whether it’s educational support or personal support to make their way towards taking that opportunity. And for me, this is really about the next chapter of Greater Manchester,” he continued.

Apart from that, Prince William is also with several mothers who have lost children due to violence, including Audrey Preston, whose son was killed three years ago when he was 21 years old.

“I thought it was important for him (Prince William) to come to Moss Side and listen to our story. When I was told he was coming, I thought ‘wow, why would he want to come and listen to me?’,” said Preston.

“”A lot of children are murdered in this area and no one really cares about the families, we are just left to get by. “So his arrival is very good,” he continued. For the Hideaway Youth Project, the Royal Foundation will also provide funds of 25 thousand pounds sterling or around Rp. 483.43 million to cover the costs of IT equipment and renovation of the recording studio.
