Xiaomi Replaces MIUI with HyperOS, What’s the Difference? Tech – 4 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Xiaomi has finally stopped using the MIUI operating system after 13 years of faithfully accompanying its users. Xiaomi announced a new interface software, namely HyperOS.

So, what is the difference between MIUI and HyperOS?

In an upload on his personal X account, Xiaomi Global VP Alvin Tse said that HyperOS will provide more capable connectivity in the Xiaomi ecosystem. This operating system is not only designed for the smartphone line, but also 200 other Xiaomi product categories.

“Can’t wait to see the new era of Hyper Performance, convenience and connectivity on all smartphones and AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things),” he said, quoted from Android Authority, Friday (20/10/2023).

So far, Xiaomi is one of the technology giants with the largest product portfolio. Starting from mobile devices, wearables, cars, to smart household equipment. It seems that HyperOS is also designed to strengthen Xiaomi’s AI technology ecosystem.

“In 2014, when the IoT (Internet of Things) business began to take shape, we explored further development and verification. In 2017, research and development of new systems finally launched to support all ecosystems and applications. This is our goal,” said the CEO Xiaomi Lei Jun in a post on Weibo.

Furthermore, Jun explained that HyperOS was built based on deep integration between the Android operating system and the Vela system developed by the company.

“We rewrote the architecture from scratch and prepared a public base for implementing IoT across billions of devices and billions of connections in the future,” he said.

HyperOS will be available in stages for Xiaomi device users worldwide. Initially, this OS will be available pre-loaded on the flagship Xiaomi 14 series.

Not much is known about the available features and the appearance of the software. It seems that detailed details about HyperOS will only be known when the Xiaomi 14 is launched at the end of this month.

Xiaomi 14 uses a Leica camera

It has been confirmed that the Xiaomi 14 will use a Leica camera. This was announced via Xiaomi’s official account on Weibo, a social media from China.

In the teaser poster, it is said that the Xiaomi 14 will use a Summilux lens from Leica which is said to have the best capabilities for smartphone products.

Xiaomi 14 is said to be launching in China this October. Several insider sources mention October 27 as the date, although this has not been confirmed directly by Xiaomi.

It is predicted that an announcement regarding the launch schedule will be revealed next week. Meanwhile, Qualcomm is also scheduled to announce its flagship premium chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, at the Snapdragon Summit, in the near future.

Xiaomi 14 is said to be the first cellphone to taste the high-class processor that is the successor to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which is used in the line of flagship cellphones on the market today.

Apart from the chipset, the Xiaomi 14 battery will reportedly have a capacity of 4,860 mAh with a fast charging feature of 90W with a cable and 50W without a cable.

Meanwhile, the Pro variant is said to use a 5,000 mAh battery with fast charging of 120W with cable and 50W without cable.

All the leaks currently circulating regarding batteries and chipsets cannot be trusted 100%. Let’s just wait until Xiaomi launches its newest flagship this month!
