Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Social media has been shocked again by rich beggars. This time, a beggar from India, Bharat Jain, is in the spotlight because it turns out he has billions of rupiah in assets.

Launching from Financial Express, Bharat Jain who begs on the streets of Mumbai, India is called the richest beggar in the world. Currently, he is estimated to have assets of more than 7.5 crore rupees, aka 75 million rupees or around Rp. 14.1 billion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 188.41/rupee).

Bharat Jain was born into an economically limited family so he was unable to pursue formal education. As a result, it was difficult for him to find stable work.


However, despite these obstacles, Bharat Jain managed to change his life and that of his family through an unusual profession. Now, his children are able to receive formal education, live in a two-bedroom apartment, and own a stationery shop.

Reportedly, Bharat Jain earns 60 thousand to 75 thousand rupees or around Rp. 11.3 million to Rp. 14.1 million a month thanks to begging. Apart from that, he is also able to earn 2,000 to 2,500 rupees or around Rp. 376 thousand to Rp. 471 thousand within 10 to 12 hours.

Currently, Bharat Jain has a two-bedroom apartment in Mumbai worth 1.2 crore rupees, aka 12 million rupees or around IDR 2.26 billion. Not only that, he also rents out his two shops in Thane for a rental fee of 30 thousand rupees or around Rp. 5.6 million.

During his years of working as a beggar, Bharat Jain was able to collect a lot of money to buy various goods and assets.
