Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT Pertamina (Persero) through 77 clean water access programs helps people in Indonesia access clean water. This assistance provides benefits to 11,306 heads of families and is in line with the government’s target of achieving 90% access to adequate sanitation, having 100% access to adequate drinking water, and 15% access to safe drinking water by 2024.
It is known that the support which has been implemented since 2022 is spread across 44 districts/cities, 21 provinces, namely East Nusa Tenggara, East Kalimantan, Riau, South Sumatra, Banten, Central Java, East Java and West Java.
Pertamina’s VP Corporate Communication, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, explained that in its implementation, this program adapts to the conditions of each region so that the aid mechanism can answer needs. These include drilling wells to find new water sources, pipeline assistance to connect water sources that are more than 5 kilometers from the nearest village, and technological assistance that can change water that is not suitable for consumption into suitable for consumption.
He emphasized that Pertamina continues to strive to increase access to clean water in Indonesia. Pertamina also enables communities to be economically, educationally, environmentally and health empowered by providing greater access to clean water.
“In determining the clean water access program, social mapping must be carried out at the beginning to find out several aspects and geographical conditions. These include the environment, economy, social and community relations at the location. Then it is re-mapped technically for the need for clean water facilities,” explained Fadjar in a written statement, Thursday (26/10/2023).
Most recently, on September 22 2023 Pertamina built clean water facilities in Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), namely Tendambepa Village, Nangapanda District and Wolosoko Village, Wolowaru District, which are included in the operational area of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jatim Balinus. Pertamina is providing clean water facilities by building reservoir tanks and pipes to channel water from springs to reservoir tanks which are more than 7 kilometers away.
Furthermore, Fadjar explained that this program to increase access to clean water is in line with Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) for achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 Clean Water. So that it can be optimized to improve health and access to clean water for the people of Ende Regency, as well as ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water for everyone.
A resident of Tendambepa Village, Fransiskus Mari Lado, admitted that he was helped by Pertamina’s clean water supply program. He said this assistance makes it easier for people to access clean water.
“This is also the end point of the difficult times we experienced in previous years,” he said.
The Regent of Ende, Djafar H. Achmad, also expressed his thanks to Pertamina for the implementation of this program. He encouraged the role of citizens in the sustainability of the facilities that had been built by applying the results of the training that had been provided.
