Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The price of grain and rice in October 2023 has increased by more than 27% compared to October 2022.
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that inflation in October 2023 reached 0.17% monthly and 2.56% annually. The increase in prices of rice, gasoline and cayenne pepper contributed to inflation.
BPS data shows that the price of grain and rice has continued to trend upwards since 2022. Where the highest increase in rice prices occurred at the milling level.
“The price of harvested dry grain (GKP) at the farmer level in October 2023 increased by 5.16% monthly and by 27.95% annually. Then milled dry grain (GKG) also increased by 4.29% monthly and amounted to 30,000 “77% on an annual basis,” said BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Pudji Ismartini in a press conference today, Wednesday (1/11/2023).
Meanwhile, he continued, the price of rice at the mill rose 3.31% monthly and 29.24% annually. At the wholesale level, rice prices in October 2023 rose 2.13% monthly and jumped 21.64% annually.
“Then the price of rice at the retail level increased by 1.72% monthly and by 19.12% annually,” said Puji.
“Thus, on a monthly and annual basis, the highest increase in rice prices occurred at the milling level,” he added.

The Food Agency Price Panel noted that the price of medium rice today rose again by Rp. 30 to Rp. 13,250 per kg and premium rice increased by Rp. 20 to Rp. 15,020 per kg.
A week ago, October 25 2023, the price of medium rice was IDR 13,230 per kg and premium rice was IDR 14,990 per kg.
