MSIG Indonesia & Sinarmas MSIG Life Team Up to Preserve the Sea News – 2 hours ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT MSIG Life Insurance Indonesia Tbk (Sinarmas MSIG Life) and PT Asuransi MSIG Indonesia (MSIG Indonesia) synergized with Smiling Coral Indonesia to transplant hundreds of coral reefs and plant mangroves on Pramuka Island, Thousand Islands on Wednesday (25/10/2023).

Head of Customer & Marketing at Sinarmas MSIG Life, Lukman Auliadi, said that his party is committed to ensuring that the world community has a good quality of life, including in terms of the environment.

“MSIG is not only about life insurance, but more than that. We want Indonesian people to live healthily, be more confident, especially in financial matters, and have a good living environment so that the quality of the future will be better,” said Lukman at the Inauguration of Coral Reef Transplantation on the Island Scouts, Wednesday (25/10/2023).

He emphasized that this year the company is also committed to ensuring that coral reefs in urban Jakarta have their true function, both from ecotourism and for the surrounding community to provide good income, especially from the fishermen’s perspective. For this reason, his party will continue to ensure the preservation of coral reefs.

Meanwhile, Head of Administration Dept. MSIG Indonesia, Susana Alamsyah, revealed that this synergy is clear evidence of a company that is specifically committed to environmental care and education.

For education, continued Susana, her party hopes to make the next generation aware of ensuring the preservation of the earth’s biodiversity, especially as this becomes a legacy for future children and grandchildren.

“This is what underlies our commitment to preserving biodiversity. This year we have also planted mangroves and planted trees in Central Java, as well as helping awareness in the local community,” explained Susana.

By ensuring awareness of the local community, Susana is sure that they will also help protect and preserve what the company has planted. With this synergy, he hopes the company can have a positive impact on Seribu Islands, especially on Pramuka Island.

On the other hand, the Chairman of Smiling Coral Indonesia, Hermansyah, said that this program was very useful as an effort to restore damaged coral reef ecosystems.

This program, he continued, is also useful for increasing fish productivity and has an impact on the community’s economic sector. It is recorded that 80% of the people there depend on coral reefs for their fate. Unfortunately, currently around 60% of coral reefs are damaged which has caused a decline in economic activity on Seribu Island.

For this reason, transplanting coral reefs is useful as a shelter for fish. With healthy coral reefs, fishermen can catch more fish. It is recorded that 1 hectare of healthy coral reefs can produce 200 tons of fish which are useful for supporting local communities, including fishermen.

According to him, this activity is also useful as a form of effort to develop eco tourism where the restored area can become a place for eco tourism practices.

“The most important thing is to absorb carbon, and can absorb 5x more CO2, especially from mangroves and coral reefs. So this program can have an impact on handling the global crisis,” he explained.

Not only for the economy and carbon absorption, coral reefs are also useful for preventing coastal erosion. This is useful so that the strength of the island, the foundation of the house and the surrounding buildings remain strong. It is recorded that currently 14 islands in the Thousand Islands are in danger of sinking due to damage to coral reefs.

“This coral is a determining ecosystem or must exist, there can be disasters, poverty and nature, so this is a priority in making a contribution to society,” added Hermawan.
