Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) claims that before it was operated for the community, the Jabodebek LRT had first carried out a series of processes to achieve operational permit eligibility. The Ministry of Transportation also emphasized that it does not want to rush into additional operational trains.
Ministry of Transportation spokesperson Adita Irawati said the Jabodebek LRT was fit to operate for the community.
“All the series of processes to obtain an operational permit have been carried out. So, from what we have done, everything (Jabodebek LRT) is operational,” said Adita when met at the DPR RI complex in Jakarta, Tuesday (7/11/2023).
So, why are there so many problems now?
“So today, how this all happened is what we are also discussing with stakeholders. But what is important now is how this can be resolved as soon as possible,” he explained.
Adita emphasized that her party is currently prioritizing safety. If many people ask about only 8 trainsets being run, this is because safety remains the main factor.
“The main thing is still safety. That’s why currently, if asked, the trainset is still 8, because this is what we are taking care of so that safety remains the main factor. So we don’t want to rush to add trainsets, even though we are trying to do that,” he said.
“We don’t want to stop services, with the existing trainsets that is the optimal service we can provide now,” he added.
Previously, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi promised to encourage accelerated repairs to the Jabodebek LRT. He targets that in December 2023 the Jabodebek LRT repairs will be completed.
“I want and will definitely (push for repairs). It’s been said that in December (Jabodebek LRT repairs) will be finished,” said Budi when met by journalists after the Joint Working Meeting with Commission V DPR RI, Tuesday (7/11/2023).
“Actually, this is the authority of the corporation. But we as regulators will of course observe it more deeply,” he said.
