Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Two PDIP figures, Hasto Kistiyanto and Adian Napitulu, opened up about the scenario of a three-term term for Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
This step was taken by PDIP after Gibran Rakabuming Raka approved Prabowo Subianto’s proposal as vice presidential candidate (cawapres) from the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) party.
Hasto said Jokowi’s request for 3 terms came directly from a minister. Responding to this, the Minister of Investment Bahlil Lahdalia, who is also the Chair of the Advisory Council for State Successor Volunteers, opened his voice.
He said that the issue of postponing the 2024 election which would allow Jokowi to serve as President of the Republic of Indonesia for 3 terms was his fault, not the other party’s.
“There is talk in the media about three periods, they say it was on someone’s orders. I want to convey that the one who talked about the issue of postponing the election is called Bahlil Lahadalia,” said Bahlil, quoted from CNN Indonesia, Sunday (29/10/2023).
“If there is anything wrong with the postponement of the election, it is my fault, Bahlil Lahadalia, not anyone else’s fault,” he added.
Furthermore, Bahlil said he was not ordered by anyone. The idea about Jokowi for 3 terms was a response to Burhanuddin Muhtadi’s survey during the pandemic.
According to him, if the idea of postponing the 2024 election is considered good, then it can be followed. However, if it is not good then there is no need to develop it further.
“Now it has happened, it has passed, how come someone is still talking about those three periods,” he said.
Previously, Hasto admitted that the issue of 3 periods did exist and PDIP rejected this. Hasto said he heard a number of party leaders refer to the issue as a direct request from ‘Pak Lurah’ aka Jokowi.
Meanwhile, Adian said that the rift in the relationship between PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri and Jokowi started with the issue of the 3 periods.
Special Staff to Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Faldo Maldini, denied that Jokowi’s relationship with Mega was deteriorating. He asked again why Adian revealed this.
“If there’s no evidence, it could be slander. If it’s from us, just smile. Let’s both restrain ourselves, there’s no need to escalate the situation,” said Faldo.
