Kertajati Airport is Fully Operational, This is a Strategy to Avoid Loneliness! News – 55 minutes ago

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Kertajati Airport is still devoid of airlines willing to serve flights, so far there are only three airlines willing to fly to and from this airport.

A number of airlines admit that they are still monitoring the current situation, especially regarding flight demand. As is known, Kertajati Airport will officially replace Husein Sastranegara starting Sunday (29/10/2023).

Civil Engineering Study Program Academician Unika Soegijapranata and Deputy Chair of Central MTI Regional Empowerment and Strengthening Djoko Setijowarno revealed that this airport actually has strong potential, especially from demand from the community around the airport.

“The people of East Priangan, such as Cirebon, Tasikmalaya and the surrounding area, are mostly migrants. In overseas cities, many people are traders and merchants, including in my hometown of Semarang, as well as in other cities. So the demand for the people is actually big,” said Djoko to CNBC Indonesia, Wednesday (1/11/23).

However, this great potential will be in vain if there is no shift in community mobility to air flights using Kertajati Airport. So far, people prefer to use travel or land transportation which is more flexible regarding time and pick-up and drop-off facilities to their homes. So there needs to be massive promotion so that overseas people know.

“The way regulators have to be active is to approach Tasikmalaya, Cirebon and other community associations. They have associations, give promotions so they know and are interested,” said Djoko.

Various methods must be used to revive Kertajati Airport, which was suspended due to the lack of passengers. Can this Rp. 2.6 trillion airport project still be saved at the end of President Joko Widodo’s term?

“We’ll look at the next year, within a year there should be an improvement in passenger demand,” said Djoko.
